wrapping up the month of january...processing processing processing... with a few just for fun, "in-studio" shots this month... mostly processing. so ready for some fun creative portrait sessions in February... cross fingers, that the fog will go away... nik
nikolai is a Slavic variant of the masculine name nicholas, or nick, nikki, nik... all meaning "victory of the people." Ok, so this may be slightly dramatic... BUT this is such a personal VICTORY for me...
Yes! a near perfect transfer on watercolor canvas!!! I mean Y'all!!!!!! Photography + modern digital art + "old school" ART!!! my dream.
look at the texture...as Sharon Knettell expressed, and I sooo wholeheartedly agree, "Each piece is unique and takes its own time to be realized. I am not concerned with the quantity, but only that they communicate my understanding of life and my craft at that particular time."
I have said it before...and I will say it again... it's the ability of photography with photoshop to MAKE images... that I am in mad-love with!!! love love love.
"Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time" T.M. i am an artist. nik
I'm on foggy day schedule today. blah. for the hubby: your right the kj words it "vapor" (because we often get in good king james discussions, ugh) ...and other versions say "mist" but the new living translation translates the word "fog"... which is so much more relatable when you live with tule fog...don't you think? fog, mist, vapor...either way they don't last forever... even though in Tulare, you may feel that way... nik
working hard...with only a few minor set backs...like: mom, Tye threw a car at my head. mom, can I have peanut butter and honey for dinner? mom, Tad licked my arm. mom, can I play my DS? mom, can I play my DS? mom, can I play my DS? mom, can I play my DS? (2:30am) mom, is my DS plugged in? mom, can I have some gum? mom, I ate a boogie last night. nik
one year I made a resolution to actually take care of my house plants... that resolution lasted longer than any other I have ever made...then we moved... and not a single growing thing is in my home (excluding my laundry pile).
a little late in coming...but happy january y'all... you are welcome to download this desktop calender if your little heart would so desire...
my dear dear cali-land... this is the only way we are going to get snow in good ole' tulare... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU... that I am on my 3rd year of a shovel free winter... it's like I am in snow recovery. It's purty...but man, I do NOT miss shoveling snow!!!!!
ok, so this is my most "public" secret confession, ever. the very very lovely miss cassidy was "in-studio" and we were discussing my craziness, as usual, to which I mentioned the year that I graduated... and cassidy...said, "that is the year I was born"...
y'all...seriously...here it is...get ready...the confession... I thought she was joking...oh my goodness this makes me laugh just typing it...I thought, dang that cassidy has a dry wit...
then it dawned on me, she was NOT joking...y'all...holy moly...this years seniors were born when I graduated...
to which my husband replied with his usual aplomb..."darling, you have arrived..."
p.s. miss cassidy you are tre' beau...a serious beauty...no fans in Belgium land...just sayin'...NO fans!! xoxo
Ok, so it was freezing...and you would have never known it because Juliet is a totally amazingly positive person...I mean I would have been a whiny wah wah bawl baby, as the big okie hubby occasionally calls me, but this family was the BEST! You would think you put a little man out in the cold and it may be difficult to get a smile out of him....not so! Alfredo was a total champ...and just smiled away...in fact, we couldn't even do a "serious" shot, because he was just so smiley!! LOVE it! ...not one single grumpy moment...what a way to warm up a cold day... Congrats Ramon and Juliet, February is a great month! (: Your session made me smile... I think I actually smiled behind the lens during the session... a bit embarrassing when you consider I mostly have one eye shut... kind-a like a bad version of popeye...
Ok, so it may not be..."the greatest thing since sliced bread"....but it still is awfully cute and convenient. the 3x3 Accordion Mini Albums. the size is more like a piece of bread without the crust... assuming you are buying regular size bread...and not on a diet that says you can only have one slice, so you went to the store and bought the biggest slices of bread you could find... not that I have ever done that before. it accordions-which means it compresses or expands, without music of course. the book fits in the palm of my hand... fine, I do have very big hands... but you get what I am saying... the ultimate mini brag book-3 pack which means you can keep one and give two... it's like giving and receiving all at the same time... custom designs, covers, papers, etc...I LOVE press products!!! oh yes, it also fits in your purse so much better than sliced bread. wow. nik
"working" on this rainy Sunday...welcome 2011 this literally cracks me up...I can feel the joy... luckiest little guy, ever. new years resolution: keep doing what you love...and if it involves a computer...try not to get too fat in the process... nik
